Your ideas may be a little unclear in the beginning, but they are unique. We can give them physical form, turn them into spaces, materials and colours. We will represent your interests to public bodies, contractors and neighbours and we will fight for you until the building is complete and exactly as you envisaged it.

We fight for good architecture
Architecture is more than building – it is the expression of an epoch and testimony to a client’s ideas and wishes. Our architecture: welcomes people, making buildings where people feel comfortable and at home; is defined by spaces filled with sun and flooded with light; serves your purpose, achieves the sought for level comfort and has a clear and legible character. We fight for an architecture of simple forms and natural materials. Our holistic understanding of sustainability – encompassing social, ecological and economical aspects – is built into all of our projects.

We fight for our environment
Our projects respect and protect the environment and stand in harmony with nature, combining optimal energy efficiency with as low an embodied energy use as possible. From early on in the design phase we consider the total energy balance of the project, including the building’s operating energy, embodied energy and energy for transport. We have our buildings Minergie-P-Eco certified, although they often achieve an even higher standard, namely that of a zero-energy or plus-energy building. Including natural landscaping of the surroundings is a given for all of our projects.

We fight with experience
Our practice belongs to the pioneers of an energy-efficient and ecological architecture that bases itself on foundations of conviction and knowledge. In 1982, having already completed his studies in architecture at the ETH in Zurich, Beat Kämpfen gained an additional Master of Architecture degree specialising in exactly these areas from the University of California at Berkeley. The first ecological buildings appeared in the 1980s, and since then we have consistently made our focus solar architecture, energy efficiency and ecology. The four-storey timber building Sunny Woods, completed in 2001, was the first apartment house in Switzerland to achieve a zero-heating-energy balance.

Our skills
We combine a modern architectural language with energy efficiency, ecology and sustainability. Modern prefabricated timber construction and solar architecture are particularly central to our work. We have shown that it is not only new build projects that can be constructed as zero-energy houses, but rather that renovated buildings can also achieve the highest standards of energy efficiency. We have experience with the most diverse range of residential projects, as well as with office buildings.

Our services
We advise and support you from the first sketch to the completed building. In this way the whole project stays in one hand and under careful control. Our first step is to produce a feasibility study or an energy report for you. Then follows a multi-level design process including pre-project and building project. Following on from with this stage the team carrying out the project on site will produce all-encompassing construction and detail drawings. When everything has been decided, our construction project leaders will realise your building, keeping costs and timeframe under strict control. All the various specialists will work closely together to achieve the best results for you.
